Transgression is 18+
Transgression is a party by trans folks for trans folks. We aim to be inclusive to all attendees under the transgender umbrella, and to ensure this space is safe for members of the trans community to connect and express ourselves without the presence of cisgender norms and expectations.
Because of that, this party is open to anyone that self identifies as transgender, or otherwise non-cisgender. This includes those that are trans men and women, non-binary, two-spirit, third-gender, or any other variation of gender identity.
People that are questioning their gender are more than welcome in this space. If there is any way we can support you, please do not hesitate to contact us below.
However, this does not include anyone that identifies as cisgender but expresses it in a non-normative way. This also does not include anyone that identifies as cisgender and is sexually attracted to transgender people.
Note that Transgression does not and will not question anyone’s identity, and we do not tolerate gatekeeping within our community. It is up to individuals to decide whether this is a space they belong in or not, not up to staff or attendees to decide for them.
Why?
We at Transgression have thought about this policy and its implications. Our goal as an organization is to create a space that is welcoming for trans people to express ourselves and our sexuality (or lack thereof) away from the cis gaze, in an environment that has a shared understanding of the intricacies of bodies that defy normative standards.
However, we recognize that when we say “trans only” this is inherently gatekeeping of attendance to our event. We acknowledge there will be hurt caused, whether to trans people with cis partners or people unsure if they are “trans enough” (we promise you are. no, really.)
Because of that, we chose to err on the side of creating a space that doesn’t exist for people that wouldn’t feel comfortable elsewhere. For trans people, by trans people.
